These are strange times times we’re living in at the moment. The hospitality industry, including the wedding and events industry, is in turmoil. With no large gatherings allowed since mid-March 2020, and seemingly for the foreseeable future, we find ourselves looking for ways in which we can continue to operate as an events venue.

There was a glimmer of hope sent to us by Prime Minister Boris Johnson in July when he declared that wedding ceremonies for up to 30 people could take place. For our clients desperate to get married this summer this presented a viable opportunity to do just that. Tanya and Jevon were one of those couples.

This August they tied the knot here at Hungarian Hall in our Danube Suite in front of a handful of their closest friends and family. It was a beautiful and emotional, if somewhat short, ceremony led by the Woodbridge registrars. We undertook a thorough risk assessment before being allowed to operate and were able to provide adequate space inside to comfortably accommodate their guests with social distancing guidelines strictly followed.  After the ceremony they were able to utilise our beautiful and peaceful grounds to take photos together. Luckily the weather was also bright and sunny.

Who knows, this may well be the new ‘normal’ when it comes to wedding ceremonies, certainly for the time being. They hope to come back next year to have a larger ‘wedding party’ with their extended family and friends but for the time being they can at least call each other ‘husband and wife’ and enjoy all that married life brings.

Wishing them all the best for their future together.
